SECURITY PRINTING: Let's "talk shop".
With some of the top game engineers on our staff, we're recognized as one of the oldest and most reputable security game printers in the country. After 60 years in the business, we can't say, "we've heard it all", but we'll share the most frequently asked questions and the straight answers -

So, what exactly is security printing? It's the procedures, systems, controls, engineering and plant security used only by qualified printers of anything of value.US Treasury currency, high profile event & concert tickets, postage stamps, lottery tickets.. and scratch-off tickets & instant win cards used in promotional games and sweepstakes.

I think I'll use my usual printer - he says they can apply the rub-off. They probably know how to do this stuff.
What? Do you have a "death wish" for your company's reputation.and ultimately your career? We don't mean to be harsh, but there simply isn't one good reason NOT to use an experienced security printer. Not to "dis" commercial printers, but while they're focused on "dot gain", there are any number of things they're missing.stuff they probably don't even know could go wrong. We insure accuracy with our security printing.

OK, what am I "secure from"?
The greatest protection gained from using security printing is "controlling the quantity" of every prize. If your plan calls for one $25,000 winner - you're guaranteed to get exactly that, (not 50, 100 or thousands of that $25,000 winning scratch-off ticket!) And it's just not the big prizes - Every prize quantity is controlled, right down to free products, BOGO and coupon prizes you've put in the game. Colortone Graphics secure printing controls everything - the digital files, film, plates, set-up waste.accounting for virtually every sheet of paper used in the process. (But don't worry -- we handle the "dot gain" at the same time!)
The second benefit of Colortone Graphics security printing is protection from consumer fraud. A security printer uses a number of techniques to ensure winning scratch-off tickets cannot be counterfeited or reproduced illegally once the promotional game is "in play". These techniques are intentionally invisible, not only to you, but your employees handling the scratch-off tickets and the consumers playing the game. Rest assured, Colortone Graphics security printing measures are in place.
The third benefit of Colortone Graphics security printing protect you from someone being able to "break a game".in other words, the winning tickets can be "picked out" by customers, employees or anyone handling the scratch-off tickets -- this can be anything from a distinctive cut or color variation on the winning tickets, to being able to "candle" or "see through" to discern the prize. Security printers engineer design features, stock selections, press set-ups, sheet layouts and more to ensure the game is "seamless" in this regard.
Colortone Graphics security printing also prevents "uniform seeding" - getting 50% of the winning rub-off tickets in the first carton of your shipment, or in one store, or one part of the country - is not only an awkward execution problem -it is also illegal. Federal and state regulations call for random and equal seeding of prizes both geographically and over the time period of the game promotion.
If any of that happens, isn't the printer "on the line" for it anyway? Ultimately, of course. But in the mean time it's a bad PR problem for you, your company and one that can have legal and financial ramifications. Which brings up another point: Errors & Omissions Insurance. "Real" security printers protect themselves and their clients with E&O insurance appropriate for games they're printing. After all, it's your name on our scratch-off ticket; we print it right for both of us.

I'm sure this all means that the price for security printing will be a lot higher.
Maybe just a bit -- this is a core business for Colortone Graphics, we've been providing security printing for a long time and we have our methods fine-tuned for cost effectiveness. The true value is in the assurance your rub-off game tickets are produced to the highest standards, on time, with an accurate prize structure at a competitive price. That's what we do!
So.more than you want to think about security printing?
That's the best part -- you don't have to think about it.
Relax, focus on what you do best, and let us handle the rest! A game promotion or sweepstake is a powerful traffic and sales builder - and one that you execute with complete confidence. You've got our guarantee on that!
