The emergence of new technologies has a mixed impact on the industry. While new technology and falling prices for computers, printers and software are reducing the cost of business mail communication and driven demand for envelopes, letters, direct mail, labels etc. However, use of e-mail, internet billing and payments has offset some of this demand. With imports decreasing and exports increasing, opportunities for future growth lay in the international markets.
