Director, Hard Copy Supplies Advisory Service, and Principal Analyst, Wide-Format Printing Advisory Service
Mr. Held is responsible for overseeing the creation of all content for the Hard Copy Supplies Advisory Service (SAS), including primary market research and all product forecasts for desktop, office, and production media and consumables. Mr. Held provides personal consultation to SAS clients, particularly to those clients interested in the wide-format market, including printers, ink, and media. In addition, he heads Lyra's new Wide-Format Printing Advisory Service that focuses on new flatbed and solvent-ink printing applications and opportunities. Previously, Mr. Held was a senior editor at Lyra, writing on and researching a range of topics for The Hard Copy Observer.
Mr. Held has 20 years of printer-related industry experience. Prior to joining Lyra, he founded and operated a sign shop that was innovative in its use of computerized cutting and imaging systems in the fabrication process. Prior to that, he was international marketing manager for Bitstream, where he helped the company expand its typographic operations in Japan and China. Previously, he served as a senior engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation and at ComputerVision, where he developed software interfaces for wide-format pen plotters. He has also worked as a technical writer for Agfa. He joined Lyra in 1994.
