SAN DIEGO May 8, 2007 In an effort to minimize the environmental footprint of U.S. businesses, Yamagata America has introduced a new Green Printing service that uses 100 percent and 40 percent post-consumer recycled paper.
Using renewable energy, YamagataǃÙs new service produces manuals, catalogs and directories that meet or exceed all industry quality standards and offers competitive pricing. The service reduces waste and pollution by using non-traditional bio mass fuels, such as wood waste that has historically been burned or dumped into landfills. All materials are produced and printed in the United States.
For every ton of paper printed on 100 percent recycled paper, Yamagata Green Printing saves:
ǃ¢ 10,052 gallons of water
ǃ¢ 14 million BTUs
ǃ¢ 1120 pounds of solid waste
ǃ¢ 2210 pounds of greenhouse gasses
ǃ?Yamagata Green Printing lets U.S. businesses show their customers how much they really do care about the environment,ǃ? said Dice Sakurai, Yamagata America print operations manager. ǃ?With 100 percent consumer recycled paper, we can offer everything from product manuals to tech support books without cutting down a single tree or burning any fossil fuels.ǃ?
The new service stems directly from YamagataǃÙs recent ISO14001:2004 certification ÇƒÏ the ISO standard for successfully implementing an Environmental Management System (EMS). Yamagata meets this standard by managing all of its products and services in ways that reduce negative and increase positive environmental impacts. From equipment to ink and paper selection, every business decision is made in the best interest of the environment. As a result, green businesses can retain their high environmental standards by working with Yamagata.
Global Standards
Yamagata helps companies successfully meet and exceed the highest environmental standards in the world. This even includes the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive ÇƒÏ the worldǃÙs environmental benchmark. RoHS prohibits European Union (EU) countries from importing electrical and electronic products containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
Like the rest of an electrical or electronic packaged product, product manuals are subject to RoHS and other environmental standards. By conducing laboratory tests on everything from paper and ink to stitching wire and glue, Yamagata certifies that its product manuals can be legally shipped anywhere in the world.
